Today was a rather relaxing day for me but a hectic day for the kitchen helpers, front desk, servers etc...cause there was a mothers' day buffet lunch at the lodge.
The housekeepers for the day were only me and a Filipino couple. They were really fast with the cleaning of room..which make me stress lar! when i only finish the bathroom and part of the sink, they were like almost done and start to vacuum the floor le! Oh my! i haven fininshed like foild the towels etc and put the stuff back to the place!...But they are really very nice!...Haha..in the end, we slack the day thru...
There was no lunch today...cause of the buffet event, but then dinner was the leftovers of the buffet. Finally the first time i have tasted fish here....normally is like bacon (standard for breakfast), if not meat beef or pork i think..
But What i wanted to say is that..the Asians here (the migrant workers) are really a close knitted family here.. I m really really touched by the care n concern given by them..
I was chatting with my supervisor and her bf (the Filipino couple - Glasier and Edmer)..she like asked whether i got food to eat in the night as like we have our dinner at 430..wat if we get hungry....I replied like...not realli cause i would have a hearty meal lar..wun eat less for diet that kind here...so i dun really feel hungry at night. Then she was really kind enough to offer me some noodles to cook which i decline alr..cause i wasnt really hungry...
Then came my boss and his wife i think..Filipinos. ( Roberto and ...haha i dun koe his wife name....) knocking on our door now bringing us food! and cooking pots!...They said that they heard from Glasier that we havent got any food!...Really really touched when they bought us water, bread, cooking pots, cups and even noodles!
I dont think i will eat them..haha cause for the past few days I don't feel really hungry so din eat anything during the night but was touched by the concern shown. Think i really have to like buck up in my housekeeping sia..if not like let them down like that...
Hmm, got to koe more about them while talking to Edmer and Glasier this aftn, like where they worked before coming here etc, how they like find no jobs back in their own countries, and realli do cleaner, kitchen jobs, sometimes under snobbish bosses..here and even Singapore. Its really not the job i think, like you k sense and hear the tone if one American talks to one of us compared to talking to a partime American house keeper, really is different....
of course some are good too. There is this partime house keeper lady that helped us alot today by driving us around to the cabins and really did up all the laundry for us...if not for her..haha the three of us wun have time to slack!...
